Managing Your Position: Redeem, Repay, or Close

Once you’ve minted syUSD, you can manage your position in two main ways — either repay and redeem manually, or close the position entirely in one action. Both options are available in the vault interface, but they work a bit differently.

Option 1: Close Position (One-Click)

If you have enough syUSD in your wallet to fully repay your outstanding debt, you can choose to close your position in one click. When you click “Close,” the protocol will:

• Automatically use your available syUSD to repay the full debt.

• Redeem and return your entire collateral back to your wallet.

This is the simplest way to exit — no need to manually input amounts or rebalance your position. However, this only works if you have enough syUSD in your wallet to cover the full repayment. If you don’t, the transaction will fail, and you’ll see an error notification. So make sure you’ve got enough syUSD ready before closing.

Option 2: Remove and Repay (Manual Control)

If you want more control over how you manage your position, use the “Remove and Repay” option. This lets you:

  • Repay part (or all) of your syUSD debt.

  • Redeem a portion (or all) of your collateral.

  • Do either side individually — for example:

    • Just repay some syUSD, without removing collateral.

    • Just remove some collateral, without repaying syUSD.

This gives you more flexibility, but also comes with more risk — especially when removing collateral without reducing debt.

⚠️ Important: If you remove collateral without repaying syUSD, your loan-to-value (LTV) increases.

If your LTV gets too close to the MCR (maximum collateral ratio) for that asset, you may become eligible for liquidation. Always keep a safe buffer between your current CR and the minimum required for your collateral type, especially when working with volatile assets.

Summary

• Use “Close position” if you want to exit your position completely and have enough syUSD to cover your debt.

• Use “Remove and Repay” if you want more control — just be mindful of your updated LTV and potential liquidation risk.
